Thank you for being part of this community effort - we can’t do this without you.

I have utilized Maine Needs for 20 individuals in the Lewiston area, some are unhoused, some are low income, Maine Needs has always shown up and shown out with basic need items. Truly a life saving resource for the communities of Maine!

-Peer Recovery Coach

You all have assisted in preparing so many of my women for re-entry into the community! From clothes, to hygiene, to shoes, jackets, sweet gifts, even jewelry, which some women haven’t had in a long time! Some individuals I work with have shared they haven’t felt cared for or pretty in years. Some struggle with low self-esteem, have histories of DV, and trauma. It’s the small things like your orders that light up their faces during release! You all have helped in hundreds of cases for my organization and are a huge asset to this community. Working with survivors of domestic violence sometimes they don’t have anything and are always moving place to place. To know that there is somewhere to go to be able to get them necessities when they need them is something that we don’t take for granted! I’ve heard them speak nothing but high praise for your organization. From everyone here at Through these Doors, we thank you for your dedication to this work! We love Maine Needs!

-Safe Re-entry Advocate

A client stated, "I have gone from homeless to an apartment and stable independence. I couldn't have done it without my case manager and the help of Maine Needs. They have provided me with warm clothes and basic needs that I couldn't afford otherwise both when I was homeless and now that I am trying to pay rent and live in my apartment."

-Behavioral Health Case Manager

Maine Needs has helped hundreds of the clients and families on my caseload in the last year and a half. Last winter we experienced people walking in daily without warm winter gear and without Maine Needs we would not have been able to help them stay warm while walking to their appointments. Maine Needs has also assisted in gathering basic home supplies like cleaning supplies, kitchenware, and bedding which is helping clients with no income make their apartments feel like a home. MaineHealth Access to Care is very grateful for the assistance Maine Needs provides in filling the gaps in our communities.

-Case Manager

I have a client who was unhoused for four years after being in active use and in a severe DV situation. When I started working with them, we worked tirelessly to get them housing. Once we were able to get her a small place to call home, Maine Needs was able to provide her with supplies to make it a true home: blankets, pillow cases, fry pan, plates, bowls, you name it.
It was the first time she had somewhere besides a shelter or park bench that were safe and free from violence. After the first week, she said that it was her first time sleeping and eating without being afraid. With the help of Maine needs, she is employed, going to school, and working towards building a community .
